What To Do About Not Wearing Clothing
Chuck has, started removing his clothes when sleeping or napping and then will come into the common areas naked or sometimes go into another residents room and sleep. He will put his clothing back on with minimal direction and assistance. But this is becoming a regular occurrence. He is in memory care.
When my mother was in memory care she lost alot of clothes which I could never find. I would go to the laundry room to see if I could find them. It is a common problem. Mom never went without clothes of some sort because they would make sure she had something on. I guess the assistants will need to help him after his nap. That is a problem.
Dear Maria6, You've certainly got your hands full!! No wonder you're exhausted! The incontinence/BR problems are the worst. I hope you are able to find a good memory care place for your Dad soon. I know what you mean about your stomach. I have to remember to keep breathing deeply to release that tension & repeat my mantras to myself to keep my thinking going in a more positive direction. Not easy to do in your situation! Sending support. I keep telling myself we will all get through this nightmare and to hold myself in gentle loving kindness. We want to be healthy at the end of this tough journey. Take care.
KerryAWill, I have been trying to do deep breathing, pray and meditate. I started writing my dad's name on his clothes. I found more items to put in his box that will go outside his door so he knows that's his room.
My husband made dinner tonight. That was a huge Blessing! Guess he saw my post on Facebook and figured he needs to straighten up! I hope it's not a one time thing. Time will tell!
I hope your Husband likes this new companion! Hope they hit it off great! I didn't realize someone else could do that. Hope it works for you both!
Thank you!
Marcia
Dear Marcia8, So sorry you're still taking the brunt of your Dad's ALZ problems and being responsible to keep things clean and somewhat sane. Give yourself some grace about having a bad morning...it's not always possible to stay calm in the face of repeated crises. I do wish you could get some help even a few days a week. I think I have located a companion service that will be able to come a few times a week for conversation & maybe to take John out for a walk or lunch. We'll see how that goes once we meet the gentleman & see if john accepts him. Praying the room for your Dad comes through soon. Do some deep breathing, pray or meditate and take a few moments just to yourself to let your brain calm & regroup. Sending support. You will get through this and have the knowledge that you have done the best you can for your Dad. Take care.
KerryAWill, me too! I just cleaned his bedroom including the carpet and put clean sheets and pads on. Seems like every weekend, he makes a huge mess! You can tell it's really bad in there now! Then we get mad! My dad peed in our dining room and then our dog drank it! Hope she doesn't get sick!
I started filling out paperwork for my Dad to go into memory care. I stopped to get a much needed shower and pick up my dad from day care. The nurse there said he got into someone else's vehicle today. Last night, he was acting very different just sitting around not really wanting to do anything! He wanted to walk our dog but then it was too late to go. I won't let him go if it's too dark now. Since earlier, still haven't been able to go back to sleep! My stomach is stressed too!
Hope this weekend isn't as bad as other weekends! I so look forward to Mondays again! I'm so exhausted!
