I've learned that alot of the patients on the Alzheimer's unit LUUUV to go around, room to room, and take things. Sometimes they will take their own belongings, pack them up and hide them in another room.

My husband was giving and throwing things away all the time. If he didn’t know what it was for he wanted to get rid of it. A few things got thrown away without my knowing. You have to start locking things away or in your case put everything out of sight.
One comical habit my husband developed was that at meal times if anything was on the kitchen table he would add it to his food. Until I got good at clearing the table after each meal I saw him add ketchup to his pancakes and pancake syrup poured onto a tuna sandwich. At first I would scream “oh no” and try to take the food away, but I found that he would get upset with me and also he would eat it no matter what. For my sake I learned to put everything out of sight.

Oh no! My husband picked up our grandson’s air pod ( or whatever they are called!) while we were visiting. We were on our way home and stopped at a store and he pulled them out of his pocket. I asked where he got them and he said he found them! I was telling my daughter about it and she said “oh my gosh! Nathan has been looking for them all over!” So I sent them back to him!
I’m hoping I can keep him home and take care of him. I just can’t bring myself to put him in a facility yet. He’s ok during day but nighttime is the hardest. He is up wandering around until he sits down on couch and falls asleep. When he goes to sleep then I can!

Susan, I found your comments very informative; my wife touches or moves anything she says, and many times hides them. I must start hiding much of our things!

Not yet. If there is something on the countertop that doesn't belong there he wants to throw it away. Seems like he has gotten OCD since the stage ramped up.
