What Can I Do To Get My Wife From Having To Get Out Of Bed 3 Or 4 Times A Night To Make Sure That The Doors Are Locked?
Wego to bed at 9oclock every night with that said first we shut the TV off then go to the deck door and make sure it's locked then to the garage door to make sure it is down then we locked the door to the house then we go back to TV room and turn off the lights and check the foyer door and make sure it is locked we can finally go to bed we are in the bed and 5 minutes later have to get up and go do it again this happen 3 to 4 times a night
Hopefully it will eventually stop. DH used to this too. Every five mins till he fell asleep. Sometimes a dozen times a night. It gradually stopped.
It’s true that eventually, all behaviors change. I have a suggestion, though for any bedtime issues. Bedtime routine is so important, but the routines can be adjusted as the disease progresses. Checking that the doors are locked sounds like it could be an anxiety issue. Maybe try lavender bed spray and a white noise or soft music for distraction and relaxation when getting into bed. For my mom, I spray the nighttime spray, I tuck her in and ask her for her glasses. Then I give her a kiss and look right at her and say “I love you” the same way every night.
Just a thought and example of what I have done. I wish you patience and love on your journey.
Unfortunately I do not have an answer but I can empathize! The One thing my husband remembers is to lock the doors- usually twice and he usually will sleep at least part of the night on sofa in living room to catch " intruders"
He was prescribed Seroquel but I don't think it has been effective and I wonder if it may be making his memory worse.
🤔 He also is very hard of hearing and when he hasn't misplaced his hearing aids they are somewhat helpful
Thanks
