Hi Anybody Try The Infusion Drugs? Andumunb??? Spelling???And Has It Helped?
It also gave me nightmares, I have always had them but these were worse.
I took Namenda and I couldn't handle the side effects.
My husband was for 21/2 years in the trial for this new drug run by Biogen. They decided to pull the plug on it as it didn't seem to be helping. Then a year later Biogen started the trial back up again as they found that in high doses they saw promising results for the removal of Amyloid plaque. BUT it has some potentially dangerous side effects . Swelling of the brain and brain bleeds! The FDA where very hesitant to allow its use but financial profits and perseverance by some Big Pharma companies persuaded FDA to agree to its use. However it only deals with the elimination of Amyloid plaque and NOT the Tao which also is part of the problem. The drug has to be administered by infusion and I do not have the full data, but it will be horrendously expensive! 'Profit anyone?"
My husband and I talked in great length about it, and he decided not to bother taking it. His comment was; "why prolong the inevitable? Let me go as soon as possible !!
The only 2 drugs that are really so far used are Aricept and Namenda. We took my husband off aricept after 6 years as it gave him terrible nightmares.
The only drug the doctors tried for my husband, did not help at all. Don't recall the name of the one. But the one you mention may not have been available before Ron died 2-years ago
