Being Yourself Is More Than Enough

Posted on May 4, 2018

"After years of feeling like I need to be better, stronger, healthier, and in control, I now know I am enough." -Member of myALZteam

Members of myALZteam experience the burden of caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer's physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Sometimes we strive to appear 'fine' to avoid the stigma of caregiving. Other times, we experience relief and support from peers who've been in our shoes.

"I'm getting out of the rat race. I'm not hiding my struggles anymore. If I need help, I'm speaking up. Hearing from other caregivers has taught me that my health matters too."

Here are recent conversations from members on myALZteam:

"I have no one I can confide in who will understand so I am grateful for this support group. One’ll those who live through this can understand and empathize. I just take it one day at a time. Thank you all!"

"We had a nice day. Got our hair cut and gassed up the car. Then we went out for a late lunch. Grateful for good times."

"I just came across this app and I hope it will be helpful. In the last year, both of my parents have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I am overwhelmed with trying to get ready to support them and learning how to care for them. I know this is a long road but we are just getting started. So hi. I am here."
