I️ Recently Heard That Their Are “Levels “ In This Disease . Can You Explain This To Me ?
That may be a reference to "stages'. The stage identifies how much the disease has progressed. There are a couple different lists of the stages. One has 4 stages. Another has it broken down into 7 stages. Both are a means to gauge the progression as well as identify what changes to look for in the near future ( or next stage).
I got on the Alz site and printed off the 7 stages. Then I checked off the ones my husband was doing pretty consistently. It helped me understand where he is now and what to be looking for. Very helpful. Also a way to “shortcut” conversations with the doc without going into details. ex. “He seems to be starting into stage 6”.
I go by the three stages. It is easier for me to cope with emotionally. It's hard to try and figure out where they are at in this disease. It's already so confusing and baffling that the three steps help me keep it simple. https://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_stages_o...

Senior Helpers (www.seniorhelpers.com) has a DVD that discusses the different "stages" only they use gems (rubies, etc.) to describe the stages. Teepa Snow is featured on the DVD and, if you are not familiar with her, she is an occupational therapist and dementia expert with over 30 years of clinical experience in the field of geriatrics and dementia care. I do not know if you can watch the DVD on Senior Helper's website but you can call them at (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) and request a copy. The name of the DVD is "Your Guide to Supporting Family Members with Dementia". They also offer another very good DVD "Alzheimer's and Dementia: Care for the Caregiver" that is very helpful. I hope this helps you.
