What Do You Tell Your LO Why They Are In A Nursing Home
I'm hoping that people will lie to me with a smile on their face when I don't remember why I'm not "home" any more. "We're remodeling and you'll be here until the house is done"... that sort of thing. I also hope they'll visit daily and reassure me that they still love me. If they can't visit every day, I hope they'll leave me with pictures of their smiling faces and cards/letters that are hand written and full of love and compassion.
Honestly, I hope that I die before it comes to that. I already hate what I'm becoming. I don't want to become a burden on those whom i love.
In the beginning it was easy. Too many falls, and I couldn't pick mom up off the floor any more. But after a while, as the confusion/dementia started increasing, she forgot about that. Remembered I had retired, so "you'll be home to help me".
We all need daily infusions of kindness, compassion and patience. Praying everyday we each find that reserve to be present and loving to our LO's.
@A myALZteam Member, my eyes are leaking reading your post. Thank you for a look at what hubby could be thinking. Even though he deals with this evil life robber with humor, I am sure these things have been on his mind.
Hugs to you dear lady.
