Hi @A myALZteam Member Not a simple question. They are two different molecules, Rexulti is an Atypical Antipsychotic and Buspirone is an anxiolytic. One is NOT a generic for the other.

I am at this point weaning my wife from a different atypical antipsychotic. The new neurologist suggested to wait and see if hallucinations would return, and then contact him. He has a different "atypical antipsychotic" in mind. I now need to return to the kitchen, and if I can think of something more helpful I'll write to you (see Edits, below). I realize this is a very important thing for you, because of your husband's condition. I just hope other members with more direct experience will come to answer your question. Hang in tough!

Edits made two days later. I had been misled by a Google search made too quickly. For which my excuses and thanks to @A myALZteam Member and @A myALZteam Member for the correct info. Only Rexulti is an Atypical Antipsychotic. Buspirone is an anxiolytic. There is a comparison website which seems thorough and informative and also gives price indications. Thank you @A myALZteam Member drugs.com is a useful site (I have edited it into my first reply to @A myALZteam Member )., There are 15 different generics in the list you refer to, if you click on any of them there is a link to pricing info.

Our new neurologist mentioned he might prescribe Olanzapine of Clozapine for my wife if the withdrawal of Tiapride would lead to a flare-up of "hallucinations."

My husband was on buspirone for anxiety. He actually experienced increased aggression on it. He has been on Risperidone for about 18 mos,, the lowest dose 3 times daily, cumulatively a very low dose. It has helped a great deal. The dr. Said we could try cutting back to twice a day but i havent done that as he starts getting anxious and surly when close to the time of his next dose. It is an antipsychotic, which i resisted for a long time, but it has made our daily life much more tolerable. It is not high priced as he receives the generic brand.

Thank you @A myALZteam Member for that info! For now it seems unnecessary, but things can change quickly.

For what it’s worth, @A myALZteam Member: my son has been on Olanzapine for some time. It works well for him.
