How Did People Handle Their Loved One Not Knowing Them Or Loved Ones?

A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

It seems my Loving wife of over 48 years has reached the stage where she knows my name but not that we are husband and wife. She also now does not know we had Children. I will call the Doctor this week as today is Sunday. Did medication change give anyone more time? Did your Love ones improve even for awhile. It seems we are entering a new stage and I don't want to scare my kids. She was always the best Mom and Grandmom.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's frustrating. My dad now only knows a couple family members, and I'm not even positive of that any more. Interestingly, I live far away from him and he knows me on the phone but not when I visit in person. He's actually left the room when I'm visiting him in person to place a phone call to me in the other room. It's very sad. My best to you.

Hi Everybody,
Sorry could not keep up with y'all, I was having a very rough time & it seems to get bad, still I try & catchup with the group. Now my wife not only does not recognise me,also thinks I am a stranger & It's very difficult keeping up, difficult to express my emotions but luckily my daughter gives me a lot of courage.Hope none of you ever go tru this feeling of rejection.
Love to ALL of you & wish none of you go tru what I am going tru

So sorry your loved one is forgetting people. At the end my dad still knew my brother and me. Couldn't recognize my sister until you told him who she was. Used all the money he had saved to pay for the nursing home.
