My Spouse Stops And Talks To Everyone He Sees (Talking But Not Making Sense). How To Handle This?
This is a card I have used from the alzheimers association
I do the same….people understand. If my mom ends a babble with the question …Am I Right?…I give a nod and people will say yes…or I think so.
Someone posted recently about printing out business sized cards to give to others that explain their loved one's condition. I modified the original to fit our situation: My sweet mother-in-law has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. She has a 30-60 second cognition (memory only lasts 30-60 seconds). Repeated instructions and patience are appreciated. I am here to help answer questions and support her in this difficult situation. Thank you for your understanding.
I just winked and said AZ
At this stage of my husbands ALZ journey I can now clearly tell someone that he has Alzheimer’s. . . and we just recently realized that most individuals will respond with such empathy as they have/had family members with ALZ .
It makes sense: “ The Alzheimer's Association estimates that 6.7 million people of all ages have Alzheimer's disease in the United States.”
