My Father-in-law Is Not Making Any Sense. He Talks With Regular And Made Up Words All The Time. How Do Other Caregivers Handle This?
I'm also wondering if this really is "normal" for dementia. All of my dementia information says that people with this disease will sometimes not make sense. However, he is not making sense all of the time. He's seeing things that aren't there and making up words. Just curious as to if anyone else is dealing with this or is this really out of the ordinary. Thanks!
Hello!
I have not had this problem personally, but I met someone just this week who said her husband was not making any sense at all. He was put on a new medicine called Namzaric,. She said it was like a miracle. It is a combination of donepezil (which has been useless for my mom), and mematine. Might be worth asking his doctor about it. Good luck!
John never makes any sense when he is talking and he talks all the time.He also talks to people that arnt there. He is still a good eater but wont put teeth in so I have to chop everything up for him and give him soft foods.
JanetFitch, My husband has also become incontinent at night. I bought him Depends MAX, but he takes them off in the middle of the night, I get so frustrated with him. He is also on Zoloft and was not incontinent before taking this med so I'm wondering if there is a connection? You are so right, this disease is a thief. Hugs to you, Gwen
My mom doesn’t make sense when she talks , especially in the early evenings. She’s sundowning. She gets especially fearful and confused. She has also threatened to kill her self and wants to go ‘home’. She is taking 50 mg Zoloft in the mornings and another anti anxiety med at night. She’s becoming incontinent. I had to take away her underwear and replace it with Always Discreet undies. This disease is such a thief. Alzheimer’s has taken a strong, confident woman and turned her into a frightened insecure little girl. Some days I just want to scream. Please, God, help me be a good daughter and remember that it isn’t her fault.
My dad mixes up words so it is sometimes hard to understand what he means. It's been getting worse. He hasn't had hallucinations but I understand from my reading that many with Alzheimer's have to deal with that. It is considered later stage, I think. My dad is early to middle.
