Does Anyone Have Any Advise About Dental Work When Dementia Gets Severe?
I contacted a geriatric dentist in the area who's office has a lot of experience with dementia patients, but does not do sedation. I took her to a new dentist last week who said they were experienced, but there were so many distractions, including 3-4 extra people watching, that the x-rays were not good. They want to sedate for all of it. Are their pros and cons to sedation for dementia?
I just took mom to my dentist this week. He is very good with her and kind. She had a couple broken teeth that he fixed, but delayed cleaning for another appointment. He numbed her at her decision, but no sedation. He knows not to try and do too much at a time. She did well with the approach.
Thank you so much. I appreciate hearing about your experience. Both of you who posted, I am very grateful. I accidentally hit my finger on something that hid the other post and blocked the person from commenting. I am sorry and will try to undo that as soon as I figure out how.
My Julann is moderate to severe and they'd I'd a mild sedation on her for a filling she woke up about five minutes after she was done and was fine we came home after going out for lunch and she got in her recliner and was very calm cool and collective that's been my experience
