How Long Did Your LO Live After Putting Them In Memory Care?
My husband lived a year and half, after being placed in memory care. He was at the tail end of the moderate stage of the disease and entering into late stage. The first six months of his stay went fairly well. After that, his behavior became agitated more often, and challenging to control. Distraction strategies were less and less successful as were various psychiatric drugs. He’d lost a lot of his ability to communicate and needed help with all ADLs. It got to the point of his going into hospice, where only terminal sedation relieved both his physical and mental pain. He was 73 when he died.
