Trackers

A myALZteam Member asked a question 💭

HI! Does anyone use a tracking device to help locate their loved one? If you have, what do you use? Cellphone is not an option as he has a trac phone and refuses to switch to an iPhone. We were at a football game last night and he was right beside me, someone asked me a question, I turned back to him and he was gone! I was terrified for the 15 minutes it took to locate him. He had no idea where he had been either. A tracker to locate him would be helpful!

I used the kids apple watch - gizmo for a while - the band was too small for my husbands arm so I attached it to his belt loop or put it in his shirt pocket - what I liked about it is that I could call him - he did not need to know how to answer it as it would automatically "pick-up" after so many rings and we could talk. It could also be tracked on my eye phone. When he would not have it somewhere that he would notice, I laced it into his shoe lace and that allowed me to track him for awhile. As with most things, it was a good solution for awhile but then he got mad at it one day and broke the band. Several years ago, it was only 100 dollars and 5 dollars a month on the cell phone bill. Tech changes so quickly, there may be better things out there.

I certainly can relate to the helpless feeling when they are not where you JUST left them. I ordered a small device here https://www.jiobit.com/seniors It does require a monthly subscription. It is on sale right now. I like it because it is very small and I will have my LO wear it discretely around his neck, on a chain, under his shirt. I will let you know more when I receive the device.

I am considering some kind of tracking device as well. There are several styles of digital trackers for luggage, pets and keys. I just have to figure out how to be sure mom has one with her whenever we leave the house.

I bought a bracelet thaT I wear. If I get lost all my info. Phone is on it. I was dx last January. I'm in beginning stages so I can still communicate . I can't drive, do any check book. Bills etc. I do forget if I ate a meal sometimes or even what I had. There are clip alarms you can get and put a longer string on it. I would only use in stores. Grocery store, park etc. Hope this helps

Because if you do they have a tracking device for the iPhone. I use it now on my dog and my father.
