Here are a link for Medicare ratings and quality ratings too. Remember that Medicare only pays for short term care and you have to qualifying medical problems. Just dementia isn’t a qualifier, because the usually need custodial care - bathing, feeding, dressing, med administration, and someone to help them walk or take them to activities in a W/c or transport chair. I found out just today that you can ask the care facility for the state ratings and they have to provide it. I asked the facilities that I narrowed down to and received it right away.

I'm also moving my Mom into memory care in the next couple weeks. Excruciating experience. Sadness, guilt, fear, etc. One question is caregivers to residents ratio. The one we are looking at is one caregiver to eight residents. I don't know if that is good, I need to research it. Good idea about ratings, I didn't think of that. Mom's in Montana so I'll look for websites. I am dreading the actual move, not sure how we'll do it or how it will go. We aren't going to tell her....:0
