My Husband "likes" Keep Changing. He Used To Love Salmon Not Now Though! Eats A Big Breakfast,
some lunch and gives half dinner to dog! Getting thinner....dangerous?
My husband also falls instantly asleep if he sits down on chair or couch! Doesn't sleep real well at night and often hears noises he "checks" out. He has had several hallucinations and doc is aware.
My husband and his roommate are often up half the night 'partying' so sleeps through breakfast. It doesn't bother me if he misses but they do save it in case he wants to eat. He has been known to sleep through lunch too,but again they will save it if he wants it. When he was home he often would sleep all day with me having to wake him up around 2 so he would sleep that night. The last place he lost 20+ pounds despite eating. Now he is actually down to the weight he was most of his adult life.
Hi janbar122, My mom is overweight and when she started to lose a few pounds I mentioned my concern to the doctor. He said, due to her still being overweight, that she is getting enough calories. I do worry when she will stay in bed and miss her breakfast and lunch. Doesn't happen often yet at this point. My dad tends to find something he really likes and eats so much of it for weeks that all of a sudden he doesn't want it anymore. So I try to keep a good variety of foods in their house for them. Maybe in a few weeks your dad might like the salmon again. Most times for supper my parents are sharing a single serving entree. Their appetites have really decreased....old age, dementia, a combination? Hugs!
Most Alz folks lose appetite and weight so caregivers try to keep all foods high calorie and often unless there's a medical reason why not...not a big issue for my hubby yet but others can offer advice
My hubby undiagnosed yet fall asleep all the time sitting. I call it his reboot. While he's sleeping he talks sometimes. He moves his fingers looks like he's holding things in his hand etc then sometimes he will wake all the sudden and look at me kinda like he wondered if I saw him 😞
