Walking Distance
My Dad is 80 and mum is main carer. Today he said he was unable to walk while they were out. My mum also 80 had to try and get him home. He went to bed and totally forgot all about it. It was frightening for mum and I was away on business. Is this a normal thing to happen at mid stage. Dad seems to have gotten worse fairly quickly.
Bill is classed as a 'faller', but that is because his balance is 'shot' through the vascular Parkinsons/dementia. He needs help standing, but will manage a few steps once he has his balance. As far as leaning the house is concerned - wheelchair. His lack of balance has stopped him using his buggy, so that leaves Ann propulsion, which is hard.
Luckily he is not bedridden, but none of us has a crystal ball have we???
My husband, Bud, was in mid stage and suddenly began falling and over a two week period, could not walk anymore. He is bedfast now.
