Caregivers: Are You Taking Meds To Cope With Being A Caregiver? If So, What Are You Taking And Is It Helping?

This caregiver has been told that I should consider taking meds to deal with having two loved ones on a progression. The situation is stressful, but the whole idea is upsetting: that I should medicate myself because I'm forced to cope with two who have cognitive impairments. A prescription was called in, but when I went home and read about the possible side-effects, I decided not to pick it up and to ask what my fellow caregivers here are doing, regarding medications.

I only took the prescribed medication before my mother in law came into the picture.

Mom Has Begun Crying Almost Every Few Minutes Throughout The Day.

The minute she is still, she starts crying, sometimes sobbing. At almost 81, she's not that active, providing ample opportunity to start crying every few minutes. What can be done?! I can't do the minimum chores without having to stop and try to get her to stop crying.

Has Anyone Experiences With Narcisstic Personality Disorder And Alzheimer's?

My husband has always had a Narsisstic personality now dementia with narcissism much worse. Has anyone heard the expression "Gaslighting" it, was a movie in the 40's or earlier. Now he's much more violent.

Seroquel For Dementia

Hi everyone:

My mother (89, with moderate dementia) was not doing well on Xanax for sundowning and related anxiety, The doctor thought it might be contributing to some of her symptoms. He prescribed 12.5 mg of Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate) to be taken once in the evening and stopping the Xanax. My husbands doctor gave him the same thing but I didn’t give it to him because of the warnings. She won’t give him Xanax either because of the side effects it has on dementia patients. He is on… read more
