Every person that has dementia travels a different road . The more you know about it , the easier being a Caregiver will be. . The first thing I learned after 2 years of major frustration was , Their “brain is broken “ ..The outbursts you witness are directly associated with the disease. There is medication that helps ..I had to recognize the frustration My man was going thru .. He was no longer the same . He could none longer do the things he loved .. I learned that when he was giving me a rough time , it was because HE was having a rough time . Consider , putting your self in their shoes . They are in a different reality than we caregivers are . The sharing that I heard at Caregivers meetings helped a lot . I listened to how other people handled similar situations. I used some of the things I heard. Some worked , others did not .. You are not alone , there a lots of people dealing with Loved Ones with dementia . There is help out there , you just have to find it . The ALZHEIMERS Association has a help line maned by trained people . They can head you in the right direction. There are meeting in person and on Line … Prayers are with you .
Have a blessed day.
