We use flash cards with my mom. She doesn’t speak . We also have a notebook where she can write, but her writing isn’t readable most of the time. This is very difficult.

At times I responded with active listening, basically repeating back what was said, other times a simple agreement- uh huh worked. Other times I would ask questions given the bit I could understand. Most times, one of these strategies worked with my mom but there were certainly times she would be frustrated.

Currently I pretend I get it and agree. Word Salad is the most frustrating yet for me....
