Need Help With Handling The Outbursts, Negative And Hurtful Behaviors, Under Special Circumstances.....

A myALZteam Member asked a question đź’

I'm a stage 3 cancer patient, he's a cardiac and alzheimers patient, I'm his sole caregiver. We've been told we have to move from our rental we;ve been in for 11 years. In the past we had another move that was very upsetting and I think this forced move is triggering those memories on top of his inability to cope with even the smallest issue anymore. He's very anxious, always on edge and so very very hard to be around. He was always a mostly easy going, fun loving person. He depends on me for… read more

Kapuna: Re the outbursts, etc. your Dr can prescribe anti-anxiety "chill pills" for him, that will improve BOTH your lives! This is a phase in his dementia journey, and dr has seen this before.
I'm concerned about YOU and YOUR health issues!!! Re a refrigerator, check with Goodwill or Salvation Army or "Restore" from Habitat forHumanity! No fridge is REALLY to much to have to live with.
If you HAVE to move a great distance, those "calming meds"( maybe for you BOTH, would help.
Prayers coming your way!

Kapuna, you have several plates full!! this is way to much for anyone person. does your town have services for the elderly? Often towns have social workers, case managers and people expert in housing solutions. Try your closest Senior Center as well. Let us know how you're doing. Sending support.

Kapuna, I’m sorry that you are in such a terrible situation. I hope that you will find a place to live soon. If you don’t have a social worker, talk to your doctor and let them know your situation. They should be able to assign one to help. 🙏

I am so sorry what is happening to you now. Being a sole caregiver is very difficult even our health is good.. I always think why this happened now…
Life seems so unfair and cruel.
Moving to a new place is very difficult , especially with dementia person. Here in California , rent went up a lot, too.. do you have social worker ? If you have Medicaid , they will cover memory care or assisted living … I can not give you good advice , but I really hope someone can give you good advice and you can find the good place to move.🙏
