Caregiver Stress
This isn't a question, but today I'm reading about Caregiver Stress, and the Q&A Section seems like the best place to share information.
This article is short but worth reading:

What a hard situation to be up most of the night and feel unsafe. And those daily stresses on top of grieving the loss of the husband you teamed with for so many years. Keep talking with the MD re: medication tweaks to help with your husbands sleep and agitation. No one med works for everyone and you are trying to get your husband more rest/calm as well as make your care of him more manageable and safe. The memories of our spouses former selves with all of their wonderful strengths and loving gestures helps us deal with losses we now see and grieve. Self care is so important as Helens articles articulate. Sending support. Take care.
WOW, that last Bullet Point on the Dementia & Alzheimer’s caregiver statistics is really an eye opener. “…18% of spouse caregivers dies before their partner with dementia….” That’s almost 1 in 5 spouse caregivers! 😢🤯
Thanks again, Helen, for sharing these good articles. I would also like to add that I think "A Place for Mom",where you found the articles, is a good resource for finding an appropriate care residence for your loved one, should you find the need to do that. I wish I had used them, instead of picking one on my own. I only found out later that professional services, like "A Place for Mom", have the data and knowledge as to level of care certifications, provided by each facility. Had I gone through them, I think I would have chosen a better facility, one more suited to his needs, than the one I chose for my husband. And you do not pay anything for "A Place for Mom's" services. They are paid a commission by the care facility, if you choose one that they recommended. I know I probably sound like a sales ad for them. I only contacted them, after the facility, where my husband resided for a year and half, decided they couldn't have him stay there anymore, and gave me (45 days) notice of his eviction. The in house sales reps, of one of the two facilities to which A Place for Mom referred me, gave me some of the best advice I'd ever received. She was so compassionate, knowledgeable, and, most of all, honest and candid. And this all coming from a sales rep! So anyway, just my two cents.
