1099 -LTC Form
Has anyone received a Form -1099 -LTC for last year. My dad received one. I didn't know my dad would have to pay taxes on this.
Thanks!
@A myALZteam Member: Good question. Insurance companies are required to issue a Form 1099-LTC, to report disbursements; and the IRS generally treats these payments like reimbursements for medical expenses (which generally aren't considered taxable income.) MOST Long-Term Care policies are tax qualified.
Here's a good and simple explanation:

And here's the IRS instruction for Form 1099-LTC:

Thanks for all the info @A myALZteam Member. I let our tax man take care of it so other than knowing our premiums are tax deductible, I’m in the dark. It will be different next year when they will be paying for some of the in home care.
It's from his long term care insurance Allianz.
Thank you Helen! I didn't realize LTC premiums could be deducted. That helps my dad even more. Not sure if it's enough. Last year, he finally got rid of his timeshare. But this year he got a very gigantic 1099-a for the interest he still owed on it. So ridiculous! The seniors in our country are struggling to make ends meet!
Who is it from?
