Any Suggestions For Toileting Issues.
What is the best way to handle cleaning. Should they dress in easy to remove clothes. Gets irritated if they have to take off their clothes.
That is an on going issue. I always had a second set of clothes and adult diapers on the car. Accidents happened and if we were going out I usually could get him to go to potty. In a restaurant or store I always would inquire about a bathroom that we could go in. I’ve taken him in with me if needed.
As he was less able to control or let me know, I would use an extra pad, like one for menstrual period I would add to the adult diaper. If it got wet I only had to remove the one insert pad. Then when I went to putting on 2 adult diapers in and I just had to rip out the inner one. I also had an extra porta potty next to bed and in the den. It did alleviate accidents. It’s not easy but with manageable it you plan ahead. God Bless.
My husband would get irritated and combative if anyone tried to remove his clothes and clean him up. What worked for me was to just talk to him in a kind manner and tell him to let us know when he was ready to do this. I would check in with him periodically and usually he would relent within a couple of hours. Could not force him. Don’t know if this will work for you but I thought I would pass this information to you. Sending love and prayers to you as I know how difficult this journey is 🥰
This is so true and so painful. I am not the superwoman he needs.
To all caregivers.
Thank you. My biggest problem is when we are not at home and he has an accident(?). Never know when he might go and doesn't let me know so I can get him to a bathroom. So we end up just coming home.
