By what I understand, UTI's are harder on the elderly and can escalate to halucunations if gone untreated. My aunt ended up in the hospital due to hallucinations, it ended up being a pretty bad UTI where she needed strong antibiotics and over a week in the hospital.

UTIs are common with older people and dementia/Alzheimer’s. My mom has had one since December 2022. She ended up in hospital for a month. In January they put her in rehab and she got another one. They gave her antibiotics and it helped a little but as soon as she quit the antibiotics she got another one. They gave her shots for seven days for that one. When she has uti her memory is much worse and she won’t eat etc. she stays nauseated and very weak. But the memory seems to be much worse when she has one. She needs medical attention. If they get bad like my moms she may end up in hospital. Blessings and prayers to you.

UTI’s can really mess with the elderly I suggest getting her o prescription medication. When I worked at a retirement home my first example of a resident was seeing little me come out of her tv. I went to report it to the head nurse and she says it’s probably a uti. Sure enough it was and things got better fast with antibiotics. My mom passed away in November with Alzheimer’s and bathing was an issue with her even in a facility. Try to make it spa like pampering it may work. My mom loved having her nails done and being fussed with.

I would try and get her to a dr to check if not depending on where you live there are in home services that will ask you for a sample and do an exam and prescribe an antibiotic. My mom had them several times but she was already in a care facility and they took care of it. Hope this helps and that your mom feels better.
