Mary, my husband was never on this particular drug but on one of the other drugs they gave him I was questioning the side effects so we talked to the neurologists NP and she had us take him off for a month, which we did, but when he went back on the drug we gave him just one a day instead of two and that has worked great. You almost need to try it out and see what happens then go from there but listen to your instincts also. Blessings ✝️

My husband has been on this med since March. It has made a big difference in his overall mood swings. Still gets down but the sudden rage episodes are almost non existent.

Saturday, I hope you found my long writing info on this web site about medications, ect. All medications have some type of Side affects. Why is he taking Depakote?. I know it is used for Seizures as my oldest son has taken it for many, many years. The Dr does tests to check his blood levels. and adjusts the amount he takes , plus he takes another med. He has had seizures sine he was 4. I do not KNow if it is used for Alzheimers. CHECK IT OUT. As i said , most all medications have side affects . One must figure out the best way a medication can help their family and what can happen if they do not take it. MANY TIMES, THE GOOD OUT WEIGHS THE BAD. A person can find a lot of info on the internet about medicatios & types of Alzh and Dementia and resources to help. Does he see a neorologist or specialist in Alzh. Read and find more info. That is what i didand am still doing, as a family member has kidney problems. HOPE THIS HELPS.
