Overeating?
I read about Alzheimer’s patients not eating, however, I have the opposite problem. Since my husband can still walk and make food to eat, he eats all day. One sandwich after another, plus several cups of coffee a day! I don’t have room to hide stuff and he’s not gaining weight! In fact, our doctor advised he drink an Ensure with each meal. We can’t afford buying groceries every three days! I do hide things under my bed if they are for me alone, or he will eat them. Has anyone had this… read more
@A myALZteam Member...the Alz ravaged brain cells include those with appetite and taste...for most folks.that, along with no short term memory, usually slows the appetite and results in weight loss as the body also seems to lose it's ability to absorb and use nutrients but some folks develop increased appetite because the gut hormone, ghrelin I think, to tell us we're full is faulty.
One of the girls in our Support group has the same problem with her Dad. She hid baked goods in the dishwasher cause he loved his baked goods. Just find some good hiding spots. That is the best you can do.

things to the bottom self of the fridge as he doesn't look there. I think it's part of the disease.They don't have
The ability to feel full.I try
giving snacks every 2 hrs.I use distraction like walks.I am going to add pasta to soups etc.Good luck

My husband does the same , eat and drink coffee all day, just about 20 minutes after we eat he wants to when is the next meal, I hide food too, sometimes I feel bad, but he is gaining weight. ❤️
