Why Do They Lean To The Left
My husband is in later stages of ALZ. He sits in a wheelchair and I have had to put a pillow under his arm and on his left side because he leans to much to the left that it is hurting his left rib cage. I try to lift him up so I can feed him and he gets upset and gets very stubborn like he wants to be left alone. It is hard for him to eat or drink with this. He is recovering from Aspiration Pneumonia. He has swallowing problems with fluids building up in his right lung. I know put a… read more
You know my momma used to lean it was to the left but until you said something I never thought to ask. In my picture with her she's leaning to the left and since I was right handed I never noticed I think. Hard to believe it will be 10 months since she's passed in a few days.
My mom does the same. She leans to the right for a day or two and then she goes back to normal. Two days ago she was leaning completely forward and we couldn’t get her to sit up. The Dr. Said it could be small strokes. She has had two strokes that we know of. He also said that it’s part of the disease. Sadly, in the end they become bed bound. This is a horrible disease! It’s the worse thing I have ever gone through! Watching a loved one deteriorate mentally and physically is devastating! My prayers go out to everyone who is going through this
I have been taking pictures of his posture so the docs know. I took him to the ER today to check his left ribs. That was an ordeal in itself. They said it was bruising from the wheelchair and him leaning nothing was cracked so that was good. I have an appt in February for my husband with the neuro doctor so I am trying to get as much information as possible together before out visit so he can see what I am seeing. My husband has been diagnosed now 9 years. I have learning to give him is agitation medication half hour before bed so I can get him in bed without a fight. It is working so far.
Hi, @A myALZteam Member That’s about when Jackie started. We were walking the half hour to town one day and she just started going over. By the time we got there she was very bent indeed. We called at a drop in surgery and after waiting and hour and a half to be seen she was almost normal again. I ended up taking a video of a later occasion to show the doc. For something that is apparently so common for people with dementia the medical folks here at least are pretty clueless.
My husband leans to the left a lot and I prop his head and my friend's mother did that also!
