Mom Doesn't Talk
My mom does not talk she whispers sometimes and it's very hard to understand what she says does anybody go through this? Any advice on how u can communicate with my mom t
i say that to my mom to but it's usually a grunt to get my attention and it's so sad cause I miss hearing her voice thank you @A myALZteam Member for answering my question sometimes I feel like I'm alone with this but then I realize other people are going through the the same thing and it's good to talk to other caregivers to help me get through this
I was told by dr the whispering is part of the disease...i just try to get as close as possible when he speaks
Oh yes, @A myALZteam Member - my husband almost always speaks in a whisper. He has very little language left due to progressive aphasia and when I ask him to repeat what he has said he usually has forgotten what he said. His frustration level must be huge. I try so hard to understand the first time. Once in a while I ask him to speak louder, which he can do, but he will not remember at a later time so it is pretty futile. I have no idea why the soft voice.
My Mom whispers a lot & talks so low that it's hard to understand her. The only thing I can do is get closer to her to possibly hear & if I don't, I just keep asking her,"what did you say?" until I get it. It seems everything to do with it, is very time consuming. There's no rushing, thinking you may be able to get another task accomplished.
My mom also speaks two different languages I should try to see if she will colour that's a good idea thank you
