I am her primary caregiver and am very frustrated that I am not able to get her to stand up. She is not in pain just defiant. It takes me all day and many times I have to wait for someone to come home to help me. She has also lost interest in food. Giving meds is a nightmare. HELP

I am so sorry to hear your problems. I am caring for my wife who is 77. As far as getting out of bed, I usually let her stay there if that's what she wants. Eating is difficult. I try my best to make her things she will eat at least a little of. She is small, about 110 pounds. I do allow her to have as much junk food as she wants (cookies, candy, ice cream, or whatever) except near the time for a meal. It gets calories in her. If she is just not eating I would talk to a doctor. If you can get her to drink Ensure that would be helpful. My wife hates it. If the medication can be crushed (not all can) try mixing it with apple sauce, pudding, ice cream, orange juice, or whatever she may drink. Does not work well with my wife but she usually takes her medications. Hopefully someone can give you better advice. It is hard and these are some of the things that have been suggested to me. Best of luck.

Hello I just read your question. Does she like to paint .And does she like bright colors? What did she wear before she became ill.
Does she like to draw. Painting has to be done at the kitchen table you have to use small sentences. Because their brain can't hold on to alot of words .
Good luck Luna

@Ihamm123 just read your comment, my husband was an acrylic painter. I saw the decline at the last couple of years or so before he passed , I end up wanting something for us to do so we went and got bird houses and he painted bird houses. I end up having him paint a birdhouse for my 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and my 3 daughters. He disconnected on his painting, but he finished what he could and I had him sign them with a black marker. He couldn’t really write, but I would write it on a chalk board and let him copy it, but the kids really loved it. we would get big playing cards and I would have a match them and he didn’t know how to play tic-tac-toe, but I made a tic-tac-toe out of wood and a board which she loved, but didn’t know how to play it. He tried to play checkers, but even though he didn’t know how it , I just kept him busy. anyway I enjoyed my last years with him. I was so happy that I got to enjoy him before he passed. Just be in the world make him happy and love them, Prayers as all go through this journey together, Blessings Debbie
